Trump was booed by the audience after attending a musical at the Kennedy Center he was attempting to greet attendees from the box.
Washington. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, was booed on Wednesday by the audience attending a musical at the Kennedy Center in Washington, which the president dissolved after his return to the White House in January. In videos shared on social media, Trump can be seen greeting from the box alongside First Lady Melania Trump, while a portion of the audience booed.
To seemingly replicate the gestures of disapproval, part of the audience began to cheer ‘United States’ before the president and his wife took their seats.
Both attended a performance of ‘Les Misérables,’ the famous musical adaptation of the eponymous novel by Victor Hugo. Before entering the auditorium, Trump was questioned by the press regarding reports that part of the main cast of the musical refrained from performing today due to his presence.
Days after returning to power on January 20, the president dissolved the board of the institution because he disliked «what they were planning» and took charge of it with the argument of ensuring it would not be ‘woke.’Trump appointed his special diplomatic envoy Richard Grenell as interim director and placed Usha Vance herself on the new board, while several already scheduled performances began to be canceled, both voluntarily and involuntarily.
