Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, warned that in case his triumph as re-elected president is not recognized, he will call the people to a «new revolution.»

«We wouldn’t want to go to other ways of making revolution. We want to continue on the path that Chávez traced. But if U.S. imperialism and fascist criminals force me, I will not tremble to call the people to a new revolution with other characteristics,» he said at a press conference before international media.

Despite the protests, which have left 12 dead, and accusations of fraud, Maduro assured that Venezuela is at peace, but that if the United States or the opposition continue not to recognize his triumph «we will defend our homeland,» he threatened.

Maduro’s statements come in the midst of a political and social crisis that erupted in Venezuela after the National Electoral Council proclaimed the current president the winner of the elections.

The self-proclaimed winner of the elections said that behind the protests against him are opponents Edmundo Gonzáles Urrutia and María Corina Machado.

«Mr. González Urrutia, show your face, come out of hiding, do not be a coward, Mrs. Machado… You have blood on your hands. They are the damage of Venezuela, they are not qualified to have political power, to govern this country, and they will never, ever ever reach political power. I assure you and I know what I say, these criminals will never arrive.»

Maduro also accused them of colluding with Héctor Rusthenford «El niño» Guerrero, leader of the criminal gang Tren de Aragua.

«The famous boy Guerrero is in the south of Caracas directing the operations, right now he is moving, he is trying to flee to Colombia.»

Finally, the leader of the ruling party in Venezuela assured that it is the media who want to see Venezuela in a civil war.
