«It was my idea. I suggested it, and everyone said, ‘We love the idea, sir.»
The project is estimated to cost approximately $175 billion, according to Trump, and will be overseen by Gen.. Guetlein, Vice Chief of Space Operations at the United States Space Force. Trump stated that $25 billion will be from his extensive spending cut and tax bill, which he is urging House Republicans to approve.
China expresses strong concern about Trump’s «Golden Dome» and urges him to curb its development
China expressed its «grave concern» on Wednesday about the US missile defense system known as the Golden Dome, promoted by President Donald Trump, and called on Washington to abandon the project due to its strategic implications.
The official reaction came after Trump announced that a design for the system, valued at $175 billion, has been selected and will be headed by a US Space Force general. According to the president, this measure is intended to address threats from China and Russia.
During a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning emphasized that this type of system is not simply defensive, but «has strong offensive implications,» in addition to increasing the risk of an arms race and the militarization of outer space.

Why does China reject the “Golden Dome”?
Mao Ning pointed out that the US defense strategy disrupts the global security balance:
The United States, by pursuing an «America First» policy, is obsessed with seeking absolute security for itself. This violates the principle that the security of all countries should not be compromised and undermines global strategic balance and stability. China is seriously concerned about this.
The spokesperson asserted that the Chinese government believes these plans violate the principle of collective security and could have significant geopolitical consequences, especially in times of tension between powers.
China’s call for dialogue and trust
China urged the Donald Trump administration to abandon development of the shield as soon as possible and instead take measures to strengthen international cooperation:
We urge the United States to stop advancing this system and take concrete measures to foster mutual trust among major powers,” Mao Ning concluded.
Trump’s «Gold Dome» sparks nuclear tensions: Russia warns it would break nuclear parity
The Kremlin on Wednesday believed that President Donald Trump’s initiative to develop a new missile shield, known as the «Golden Dome,» could lead to the resumption of dialogue between Russia and the United States on nuclear arms control issues.
According to official media reports, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that although the design of the system is a sovereign decision of Washington, its development «in the foreseeable future» will require the reestablishment of bilateral contacts to discuss strategic stability between the world’s two leading nuclear powers.
«In the foreseeable future, the course of events itself requires the resumption of contacts on issues of strategic stability,» Peskov stated.
Since the beginning of the century, the network of arms control treaties between Russia and the United States has been virtually dismantled. According to Washington, Russia violated several agreements, something Moscow has repeatedly denied.

Peskov himself lamented the loss of these legal frameworks and warned that similar agreements will need to be rebuilt to ensure global security.
Now that the legal framework in this area has been destroyed and its validity period has expired, or deliberately […] this foundation must be rebuilt both in the interests of our two countries and in the interests of global security,» he added.

Furthermore, Elon Musk, through his company SpaceX, is expected to play a central role in building the system. According to sources cited by Reuters last month, SpaceX is leading a bid with Palantir and the drone company Anduril to develop key components of the Gold Dome.
All involved have a history of political support for Trump. Musk, for example, donated more than $250 million to his campaign and currently serves as a presidential advisor on government efficiency issues. However, he recently announced that he will reduce his political donations in the future.
