In his X account, he added: «The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.» Previously, Musk rejected Trump’s legislative package, known as the «One Big Beautiful Bill Act,» as he believed its fiscal measures and military spending would exacerbate the deficit and undermine efforts for administrative efficiency.
Some media reported that the Pentagon announced that Musk’s initiative, which required DOGE employees to report what they had accomplished in the previous week, would no longer be in effect. Before terminating this policy, the Department of Defense had requested for months that its civilian employees send an email outlining five of their accomplishments from the previous week.
This initiative provided leaders and supervisors with additional information about their employees’ contributions, promoted accountability, and helped identify opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness throughout the Department. Musk and Trump claimed that individuals who did not respond would be dismissed, although these statements were later clarified by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) by stating that the response was voluntary.
