The Republican responded to the «provocative statements» from the Russian vice president, who condemned the US ultimatum demanding Moscow to end the war with Ukraine.

Tension — Relations between the United States and Russia are becoming tense and escalating to a dangerous level after President Donald Trump ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed to areas near Russia in response to what he considers «provocative statements» by Russian Vice President Dmitry Medvedev, who warned of a possible war between the two countries.
The Republican leader’s reaction comes in response to «the provocative statements made by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, who recently criticized the ultimatum imposed by the United States on Russia to stop the war in Ukraine and warned that this could lead to a conflict between the two countries.
The Russian official wrote on Monday on his social media account that «Trump is playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 or 10 days… He should remember two things. First: Russia is neither Israel nor even Iran. And second: every new ultimatum is a step towards war.
Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country.»The Russian official wrote on Monday on his social media account that «Trump is playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 or 10 days… He should remember two things. First: Russia is neither Israel nor even Iran. And second: every new ultimatum is a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country.»
The US president’s response was that «I have ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines to the relevant regions, just in case these senseless and inflammatory statements go any further,» he said on the Truth Social platform.
He also pointed out that «words are very important and can often have unforeseen consequences; I hope this is not one of those cases.»
Trump, who has been expressing his frustration for months over Russian President Vladimir Putin’s refusal to stop the bombing in Ukraine, has reduced the deadline he set for Moscow to agree to a truce in the fighting to 10 days.

The Republican wrote in another message that nearly 20,000 Russian soldiers have died in the war this month, bringing the total so far this year to 112,500. «So many unnecessary deaths! Ukraine, however, has also suffered greatly. It has lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that figure does not include those missing in action,» he added.
Trump insisted that «this is a war that should never have happened» and again blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden. «I’m just here to see if I can stop it!» he concluded.
