The Rating
AllSides rates Yahoo News Lean Left. The meter is −1.55, not Center.
Tracxn listed Yahoo as this paper’s top competitor in 2025. AllSides, which does not rate The Rocket News, still has Yahoo one click left of the middle.

AllSides rates Yahoo News Lean Left. The bias meter on that page is −1.55 on a scale that runs from −6 (Left) to +6 (Right). Confidence is high, as of September 2026. The site does not print a factual-reporting score on that card.
The sello has moved once. An August 2018 editorial review called Yahoo Left, on the strength of what it curated — Huffington Post, ThinkProgress, and other left outlets. A September 2019 review walked it to Lean Left. A July 2021 blind survey of 1,239 readers kept it there: every self-identified bias group was more likely to say Lean Left than anything else. In June 2025 AllSides eased the meter from −1.95 to −1.55 and still refused Center. Their sentence: Yahoo “has shifted more towards the Center in recent years, though it is not balanced enough to warrant a Center rating.”
Tracxn’s 2025 company card put Yahoo first among Rocket Media News’s “competitors.” AllSides does not rate this newspaper. The ownership line on the AllSides page still says Verizon, last updated February 1, 2021. Verizon sold Yahoo that year. The rating is current. The masthead of who owns Yahoo, on that page, is not.

The Census
The census this newspaper was dropped into: 19,135 “internet-first” publishers
Axios sits at 77. People’s Daily and News Corp are in the same table. The Rocket News is filed unfunded, on the floor of a list that is not a newspaper row.

The Mix
Yahoo’s mix, as AllSides counted it: 53 percent left, 2 percent right
In June 2025 AllSides tabulated the outlets Yahoo News put on the page. Left and Lean Left were more than half. Right was a rounding error.
