ATLANTA — The Braves closed out the Phillies, 6 to 2, on Thursday night and won their National League wild-card series. Michael Harris II homered in the first, scoring Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson. Ozzie Albies homered in the fourth. Olson homered in the seventh. Grant Holmes got the win. Aaron Nola took the loss.
Philadelphia scored twice, on a Kyle Schwarber run and a Trea Turner sacrifice fly, and is out. The Braves will play the Dodgers, the two-time defending champions, in the division series. Earlier in the round the Yankees swept the Red Sox, the White Sox swept the Astros, and the Padres swept the Cubs.
The Sports desk files the Thursday night clincher. The front of the paper is the expected appointment of Jay Clayton.
