NEW DELHI — Oil slipped about 1 percent Tuesday, before the New York open. By 4:18 a.m. GMT, Brent was down $1, or 0.86 percent, at $114.81, and West Texas Intermediate was down 88 cents, or 0.86 percent, at $100.88, Reuters reported. Both had fallen 1 percent early. This is the morning print. It is not a settlement. Monday’s note was a different print, $115.23 and $101.51. This one is Tuesday’s.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan talked with Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday. Iranian state media said the four agreed to continue talks. “Crude oil prices are witnessing profit-taking after surging to multi-month highs, as renewed diplomatic efforts in West Asia have raised hopes of a potential breakthrough in negotiations between the US and Iran,” said Sugandha Sachdeva of SS WealthStreet in New Delhi. Reuters said renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia were still keeping supply worries alive. That is the wire’s reason. It is not a new count of damage.
