AAA this morning: diesel $6.5276 a gallon. The association lists it as the highest recorded national average, dated Sept. 22, 2026. Yesterday was $6.5107. A year ago: $3.69. Regular is $4.4750. The Economy desk files a record that moved overnight while the president was in the green hall talking about a deal after the vote.
