LONDON — British police arrested a 25-year-old British-Iranian dual national in central London on Thursday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, in connection with Sunday’s events near R.A.F. Fairford, an air base in England used by American bombers. Officers searched two properties. He was not named, under British policing rules.
The police first said the man was 27 and that a second man had been questioned. They corrected both points. Five British men in their twenties, arrested near the base on Sunday in white vans, remain on bail. Searches found petrol and no explosive devices. One of them had dialed 999 himself, the BBC reported.
British officials have said they believe Iran played a part in planning the incident. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Monday that the hands of a foreign actor had clearly been involved. Counter-terror police said they were considering every angle, including a foreign state. The bridges in Kyiv are on the war page.
