NEW ORLEANS — Bijan Robinson ran 59 yards for a touchdown on the third play, and the Atlanta Falcons never trailed. They beat the New Orleans Saints, 45 to 24, on Monday night. Robinson finished with 145 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. scored three times and gained 62 yards. The Associated Press and Reuters reported the final. Atlanta is 2 and 2. New Orleans is 1 and 3.
The night was the 20th anniversary of the Superdome’s reopening after Hurricane Katrina, when the Saints beat these same Falcons, 23 to 3. Michael Penix Jr. completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Shough threw for 286 yards, but he needed 48 attempts, and New Orleans did not score through the air until the last two minutes. Alvin Kamara scored twice on the ground. The Saints managed 50 rushing yards.
