KRAMATORSK, Ukraine — A Russian guided bomb hit a passenger bus in this front-line city on Thursday and killed at least 35 people, Reuters reported. A later drone strike killed two more. President Volodymyr Zelensky said strikes over two days killed 78 people and wounded 215. On Wednesday a missile destroyed an apartment building in Pryluky and killed 22 residents. Two people were killed in a village in the Dnipropetrovsk region, one in Ivano-Frankivsk, and four in Kyiv.
Zelensky spoke to reporters in Pryluky, beside the British foreign secretary, and accused the United States of being unwilling to help. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had called the war a dangerous stalemate and said Washington would keep working toward a settlement. Zelensky answered: “So where’s the truth here, where’s the honesty? Where’s the stalemate? That’s called unwillingness.” He asked for wider access to Starlink so Ukraine can find ballistic-missile launchers. “Open Starlink for Ukraine. You did open it when you were responding to Iran,” he said. “Give it to us, help us defend our skies and dominate there. And then Putin will sit down at the negotiating table.”

The photograph shows Ukrainian emergency crews working a fire in the wreckage of Thursday’s attacks. It is not the bus in Kramatorsk, and it is not Zelensky at the Pryluky building. The War desk files the two-day toll. The midterm pause is the front.
