KYIV — Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that its air defenses had intercepted nearly 900 Ukrainian drones overnight, over several regions, occupied Crimea, and the Sea of Azov. The Associated Press and The Washington Post reported the claim. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said about 650 drones flew toward the Moscow region between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, that most were destroyed far from the city, and that 105 were shot down as they approached.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that Ukraine had fresh intelligence of a massive Russian strike and was preparing countermeasures. “Today, we received updated intelligence on Russia’s preparations for a massive strike,” he wrote. “We are preparing countermeasures.” The Post also published a photograph of rescue workers putting out a fire among ambulances after a Russian strike on a medical facility in Kramatorsk. This paper does not have an independent count of the dead there.
