The offer is an oil deal.

NEW YORK — The price of Iran's seven-day offer is oil. The Associated Press said Tehran wants Washington to lift the naval blockade and to waive sanctions on Iranian oil sales, then talk about the nuclear program. The June memorandum gave the two sides 60 days. This one gives them a week, and it adds a ceasefire that would cover Lebanon.
On the same Friday, The New York Times reported that President Trump is considering a restriction on U.S. diesel exports, in the hope of bringing domestic prices down. The paper said experts warn the ban would have unintended effects. The Economy desk files both: the foreign barrel Iran wants to sell, and the diesel Washington may stop selling.
Waive the sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and lift the blockade.
Thursday's trade truce with China, extended to January 10, is yesterday's note. Reuters added only that Trump claimed more access for American farmers. That claim is in the lead. The price is here.
