The Court let the third-country flights resume.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court said Tuesday the government may again deport people to countries that are not their own, at least until the justices hear the case. The order is unsigned. Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson would have left the hold in place. Arguments are set for December.

The order pauses a ruling by Judge Brian Murphy in Boston. He had held that the Department of Homeland Security's third-country policy was unlawful, and that migrants must have a chance to object. The Associated Press said the lower-court ruling forced the cancellation of a flight carrying about 70 people. Under often-secret agreements, the administration has already sent some 25,000 people to more than two dozen countries.

The three liberal justices would have kept the removals on hold.
