Texas: the wall is going up in Big Bend. First steel in a country that fought it.

The Trump administration has started building the border wall in the Big Bend of west Texas, the Associated Press reported Friday from Comstock. It is the first major construction in a stretch that fought the plans for years. Customs and Border Protection has doubled the pace along the line. The States desk files Texas again, not Miami, and a desert that now has steel in it. The Rio Grande is still the river.

Residents and park country had already watched environmental waivers for Presidio and Big Bend Ranch. A canoe on a sample panel still reads STOP THE STEEL. Abbott did not push back. The children in ORR beds this morning were also Texas. The wall is the afternoon. CBP says the pace along the whole line has doubled. Big Bend is where the photograph is.
