RIO DE JANEIRO — The Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens play at the Maracanã on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. Eastern, on CBS. The NFL set the date at the draft in April: the league’s first game in Rio. Both clubs fly in Thursday night and practice in Brazil on Friday.
The argument this week is the grass. Soccer players complained about the surface. NFL field director Nick Pappas told ESPN there are “no concerns right now,” even after what he called a record stretch of rain. Asked if anyone was talking about moving the game, he said that was not a conversation. Ravens coach Jesse Minter said the field is in the league’s hands and that both teams will be ready.
Jerry Jones called the Maracanã a special stage. Steve Bisciotti said the Ravens were honored to be in the first game there. The Sports desk files Sunday, not the weather excuse.
