DALTON, Ga. — President Trump took the midterm campaign to northwest Georgia on Friday night and told the crowd at Dalton Municipal Airport to treat him as if his name were on the Nov. 3 ballot. “You have to pretend I’m on the ballot,” he said, as at least one man shouted “Trump 2028.” Later he said, “On election night, Georgia is going to prove that America does not belong to those who hate us.” The Associated Press reported the rally.
He was there for Rep. Mike Collins, the Republican nominee for Senate, and Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for governor. Collins is a two-term congressman. Jackson is a billionaire businessman. Their Democratic opponents are Sen. Jon Ossoff and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. The Associated Press said both Republicans will need more than Trump stalwarts to win. When protesters interrupted over immigration policy, Trump suggested that “left-wing loser” Ossoff had paid them. He spent more of the speech on Democrats, the war in Iran, and the border than on the Georgia Republicans beside him. He called Ossoff “Pee-wee Herman” and mocked him for wearing makeup. He said he wears makeup himself, and that his is light. When he brought Jackson up, the candidate’s turn was brief. Jackson thanked him for work on behalf of foster children.

Ossoff said he was “surprised Georgia Republicans want the president here.” He said the visit would remind voters that Trump and his party had pushed policies that have “driven the cost of groceries, fuel and healthcare to their all-time highs.” The sanctions order is a separate note. The school in Bend is on the states page.
The photograph shows Trump at the Dalton podium Friday night, one arm out, pointing. Collins and Jackson were on that stage. This frame is the president, not the three of them together. It is not an advertisement.

The midterms
Trump told Kentucky he can do stuff that is unbelievable.
At Truist Arena in Highland Heights he said this term is “much more powerful,” asked voters to pretend he is on the ballot, and called Rep. Thomas Massie a “jerk” and a “loser.” About half the arena clapped. Half did not.

Sanctions
Trump put the Graham sanctions on hold.
On Friday night he waived the Russia sanctions he signed last month, two days before the law’s own deadline. He told Congress the pause was in the national interest. Sen. Richard Blumenthal said the waivers were about “sucking up to Vladimir Putin.”

The midterms
Democrats have spent $163 million putting Trump on the air.
Since Sept. 1, Democratic ads have named the president nearly 180,000 times. Republican ads have named him about 16,000 times. He spoke in Dalton that night. This note closed before the rally.
