Florida has a ballot measure to slash property taxes. Gov. Ron DeSantis says there is fat to cut. County officials say a sharp drop in revenue will hit libraries, parks, and emergency services. The States desk files Tallahassee, not Miami. The fight is the levy, not the beach.
The Washington Post put it on the national desk Wednesday. Homeowners hear a cut. Fire chiefs hear a hole. The midterms are 49 days out. DeSantis is not on the ballot for Congress, but the measure is on the ballot in a state Trump needs to look like a win.
