ROCK HILL, S.C. — President Trump traveled to South Carolina on Thursday for the second time in a month, the Associated Press reported, a sign of Republican anxiety about Sen. Darline Graham’s ability to hold off Democrat Annie Andrews. Speaking of her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Trump said, “He was a great politician,” and of Darline Graham, “She’s got the gene.” He said he had pressed her to run while other Republicans wanted the seat. “I got you into this thing, Darline,” he said. Graham was appointed in July by Gov. Henry McMaster to fill the months left in her brother’s term, and she became the nominee in August. Speaking before Trump, she said the president had “delivered what Washington promised for decades,” and that Andrews “would just throw it all away.” Andrews, in Fort Mill on Wednesday, said that if voters elect her and then tire of her, “you can fire me in six years.”
The Republican National Committee said Thursday evening that rallies planned for Kansas on Saturday and Iowa on Sunday would instead be a “72-hour sprint” of rallies by phone. “I don’t feel I have to go to Kansas,” Trump said. He said he still planned to travel to Florida on Friday. This note is the Rock Hill rally. It is not a speech in Florida.
I got you into this thing, Darline.

The midterms
Trump's approval rose a point, to 32 percent.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed Monday put him at 32 percent, up from last week's record low. Democrats lead the generic ballot, 47 to 36. This photograph is Sunday on the South Lawn, not the poll, and not Texas.
