President Trump left Ireland on Sunday after presenting the Irish Open trophy to Shane Lowry at Doonbeg. Before he left he told Ukraine to stop. “Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia.” Then: “Let him go after targets, but not diesel fuel, because he’s causing a shortage of diesel.” He said it was not the Middle East. It was Russia and Ukraine. The Politics desk files a president who will not take the pump.
AAA printed a new diesel record this morning: $6.2301, the highest it has ever been. Regular is $4.3163. He lifted tariffs on Irish whiskey as a parting gift, after Micheál Martin and Lowry asked. He doubled down on a united Ireland: putting North and South together was “one of the naturals of all time.” Ten thousand had marched in Dublin. He is home now. NPR: he returns to drum up the midterm.
