Markets are closed Saturday. The pump is not. AAA still has diesel at a record north of $6. Regular is about $4.30. The Economy desk files two funnels: Hormuz, where crude carriers have been a rumor, and Bab al-Mandab, where Friday’s count fell to 15 from 30 after the Houthis took the island in the channel.
Saudi Arabia shut the East-West pipeline, the land bypass that used to move up to seven million barrels to the Red Sea without touching Hormuz. Brent settled Friday near $104 after a $108 week. Pezeshkian says Hormuz reopens if the U.S. lifts the blockade. Gulf ministers sit with Iran in Salalah on Monday.
