KYIV, Ukraine — Russian drones killed at least three people across Ukraine early Friday, hit two shopping centers, and knocked out power to about 370,000 people in the northwest, Reuters reported. In Kharkiv, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said two people died and 12 were wounded in attacks on three districts. He had earlier put the death toll there at three. In Volyn, on the border with Poland, a drone strike on a food-processing plant killed one person and wounded eight, Governor Roman Romaniuk said. Crews had reconnected about 100,000 people by later in the morning. Mayor Andriy Razumovskyi said the blackout in Lutsk, the regional capital, could last at least 24 hours.

Other strikes hit shopping centers in Sumy, close to the front, and in the neighboring Rivne region, officials said. This desk is not adding a death toll from another wire. It is not counting missiles the Friday Reuters account did not count.

The photograph is the blackout Reuters published with the story: two children crossing a playground with a flashlight. It is the power cut, not the dead in Kharkiv and not the food plant in Volyn. The War desk files Friday’s strike. Thursday’s refinery note stays in the well.
