The U.N. Security Council on Thursday condemned Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia and warned Yemen is sliding back toward full war, the first time since the 2022 truce. The session was Britain’s, with Bahrain. Hans Grundberg, the envoy, told the chamber his warnings had “now turned into a harsh reality.” Houthi forces have seized Mokha, he said — a port on the Red Sea, “a direct presence on the shores of the world’s most vital straits.”
More than 11,400 households have been displaced since Sept. 3, mostly from Taiz. Children were killed in Marib shelling. Tuesday’s barrage on Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran wounded 73 and set energy sites on fire. The IEA put Saudi supply at a three-decade low. Brent still sits over $100. Diesel in America is $6.06.
His warnings had now turned into a harsh reality.
