TOGLIATTI, Russia — Several industrial facilities were damaged in a drone attack on Togliatti on Saturday, local authorities told Reuters. Mayor Ilya Sukhikh said preliminary reports indicated no fatalities or injuries. He did not say which facilities were hit. Ukraine’s General Staff said it had struck the Togliattikauchuk petrochemical plant, one of Russia’s largest producers of synthetic rubber. That is Kyiv’s account. The mayor did not confirm the name of the plant.
Friday is a different strike, and this desk is not folding the counts together. Governor Andrei Klychkov said three people were killed Friday in a Ukrainian missile attack on an enterprise in the Soviet district of Oryol. He said the attack caused a fire and that the bodies were recovered from the rubble, and that it came at rush hour. He did not name the site. Ukraine’s General Staff said it struck the Proton electronics plant in the Oryol region, which Kyiv says makes components for cruise and ballistic missiles. Ukraine also said it hit an aircraft at the Yeysk airfield. Local authorities said that attack did minor damage to two apartment buildings. Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defenses destroyed 1,297 drones, one French-made SCALP cruise missile and four Neptune missiles in the previous 24 hours. Those figures are the ministry’s.
No fatalities or injuries.
The photograph is a fire at an industrial plant in Togliatti on Saturday. Flames are on the towers and smoke covers the sky. It is not a count of the dead. The mayor reported none in Togliatti. It is not Friday’s three dead in Oryol, and it is not the market in Lozova.
