KYIV — Four people were killed overnight in Russian strikes, Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi said Wednesday, and two of them died in Kyiv when a drone hit an apartment building. Reuters reported the toll. Near Kharkiv, an 83-year-old man and an 81-year-old woman were killed, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said. Koretskyi said power facilities were hit in Kyiv, Volyn, Odesa, and Mykolaiv. A separate Reuters brief from the Kharkiv region carried the two deaths outside the capital. This desk is not folding in a wider count of nine dead over a longer stretch. That figure is not this overnight.
Tuesday’s note was the drone on the highway toward Odesa: three dead, cars burning, firefighters on the road. This is the next night. The capital and the Kharkiv region. The prime minister named the power sites. He did not, in the account used here, describe a change in the talks.
Four people were killed.
The photograph is a firefighter in a red helmet walking through crushed cars and sheets of torn metal. A second firefighter, in a yellow-green helmet, stands farther back beside an orange ambulance. Trees with yellow leaves are behind the wreckage. It is the strike scene the Wednesday wire ran. It is not Tuesday’s highway, and it is not a count of the dead.
