KYIV — A Russian drone killed three people on Tuesday near the highway from the capital to Odesa, the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office told Reuters. Several cars caught fire. Four people were wounded. The Associated Press, describing the same morning strike, said the dead included the driver of a shuttle bus that carries people from Kyiv to the National Military Memorial Cemetery. The Associated Press also reported a wider toll for the past day in the Kyiv region, four dead and 27 wounded, eight of them children in the Bucha district. This desk is not adding that wider count to the three Reuters reported on the highway.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its drones had hit logistics sites, port infrastructure, and cargo ships in the Odesa region, and another bulk carrier at sea. Ukraine did not confirm those targets in the accounts used here. Power was out in 12 regions, the national grid operator Ukrenergo said. Monday's strike on the capital, the one Zelenskyy said came with no warning, is the note above this one in the archive. This note is Tuesday's highway.
Several cars were set ablaze.
The photograph is the road after the strike. Firefighters in yellow helmets hose a burning car. Smoke sits across the lanes. A fire truck is at the right. The Kyiv regional prosecutor's office released the frame. It is not Zelenskyy. It is not Monday's shot-out shop window.
