Zelensky said Russia hit more than 15 energy sites.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched four cruise missiles and 332 drones overnight. All of the missiles and 289 of the drones were stopped. Moscow said it hit steel plants and a substation. Reuters could not confirm that claim.

KYIV, Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Russia had carried out a massive attack on the country’s energy system, aimed at more than 15 sites, the Associated Press reported. He asked partners to speak up for the new American sanctions on Russia hours after President Trump waived them. He called the pause unfortunate and did not attack Trump by name. “Unfortunately, a decision was made in the United States to completely ignore the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to put truly effective pressure on Russia to end this war,” he wrote. “This law could have helped enormously — and it still can. But it has to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters.” He said the scale and the relentless pace of the attacks on the energy sector were having serious consequences.

Ukraine’s air force said Russian forces launched four cruise missiles and 332 attack drones overnight. All of the missiles and 289 of the drones were shot down or otherwise stopped, the air force said. The Associated Press did not give a death toll for this attack. This desk is not adding one.

A decision was made in the United States to completely ignore the Lindsey Graham Act.

Russia’s defense ministry said on Saturday it had hit infrastructure overnight, including the ArcelorMittal steelworks in Kryvyi Rih, the country’s largest, an electricity substation in Zhytomyr, another steel plant in Zaporizhzhia, and a cargo ship in the Black Sea that it alleged was carrying military goods to Odesa, Reuters reported. ArcelorMittal had already suspended operations at Kryvyi Rih in September after ballistic strikes. Reuters said it could not independently confirm the ministry’s account. The Politics desk files the waiver. Friday’s blackout note stays in the well.
