KYIV — A Russian missile attack on Monday killed at least one person and injured 10, including students at a dormitory, Reuters reported. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one person was killed near a supermarket, and that many of the injured were outside a student dormitory at the State University of Trade and Economics, on the east side of the Dnipro. Nine were in hospital, three in serious condition. The state rescue service said a body was found by a heavily damaged apartment building. The strike hit an educational institution, residences, an underground station and medical facilities. Klitschko said explosions shattered windows at two medical facilities, and that two members of an emergency crew were injured. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy gave no precise figures. “For the moment, the number of people is not exactly known,” he said.

On Tuesday a Reuters witness heard explosions in the capital. That dispatch named no new toll. This desk is not adding one. The same dispatch said people were also killed and wounded in Kharkiv and Pavlohrad, without a count, and that a local ceasefire was starting around the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky. Those are not Monday’s ten, and they are not folded into it.

The number of people is not exactly known.

The photograph was released by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service of the night of the strike. A rescuer in a helmet holds a radio. An ambulance is behind him. Another responder, in red, is moving. It is the night. It is not a count of the dead. Klitschko is not in the frame. Zelenskiy is not in it.
