Mexico lowered the flag at 7:19 this morning in the Zócalo — the minute of the 1985 quake, and of 2017. President Sheinbaum headed the ceremony. At noon, Central time, the Second National Simulation 2026 hits all 32 states: seismic alert on more than 80 million cellphones and 23,000 speakers. Laura Velázquez, civil protection: the first time the national drill is a Saturday, so people are at home. The Mexico desk files a memorial morning and a test that has not sounded yet.
The main hypothesis is a magnitude 7.7 with an epicenter at Tehuacán, Puebla, for the center of the country. Northwest: 7.1. Northeast: 5.2. Ten minutes after noon the emergency committee sits. The phones do not need credit or data. The T-MEC paper is still unsigned. Round four is still Sept. 28.
It will be Saturday, for the first time.
