President Claudia Sheinbaum opened the mañanera on Monday with housing. Vivienda para el Bienestar is about 1.2 percent of GDP, she said. 673,586 mortgage credits this administration. 610 billion pesos. Twelve million families, by her count, have had some housing help — new units, repairs, deeds. The Mexico desk files a Monday of numbers after a Sunday of cadets.

Yesterday at Chapultepec she marked the Niños Héroes, 179 years. Trudy is a tropical storm, and the warnings are down.

At 8 a.m. Mountain time the center was about 190 miles west-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, with winds near 60 mph. No coastal watches or warnings were in effect. The National Hurricane Center said it should become post-tropical by early Tuesday.

At 9 a.m. Central time the storm was a Category 1, with winds of 90 miles an hour. A hurricane warning runs from Manzanillo to Cabo Corrientes. The center was still offshore.
