President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed it this morning from Irapuato: she spoke with President Trump on Wednesday, Mexico’s Independence Day. The 22nd call. “A very good call. We reached some agreements. Until there is a final agreement, we cannot announce it.” Marcelo Ebrard and Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco were on the line. Security was not. Ebrard for Mexico. Steel at 50 percent. Autos at 25. Both capitals want a framework before November. Forty-seven days.
It was a very good call. We reached some agreements. Until there is a final agreement, we cannot announce it.
