A report out today says governments will miss the pledge to protect 30 percent of land and sea.

Governments are set to miss the pledge to protect 30 percent of the world’s land and seas by 2030. Campaign for Nature and Together for the Ocean released the report today. Reuters had it from the Assembly week.

The Science desk files the shortfall, not a speech. The number on the page is 30. The number the governments are on track to deliver is lower. The report does not pretend otherwise.

Well short of 30 percent by 2030.
