KYIV — The Associated Press, updated Saturday, said drone and missile attacks across Ukraine wounded at least nine people. President Zelenskyy said Russia was preparing for talks by “launching ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.” Later he wrote that Moscow was building pressure before the meeting in Abu Dhabi. “Russia perceives diplomacy in its own peculiar way – as a form of aggression.”
He said Russia fired 36 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and the surrounding region, and that only four were shot down, for a lack of Patriot interceptors. He said preliminary findings at the impact sites pointed to North Korean-made ballistic missiles. The barrage, he said, included 172 drones over Kyiv and 12 other regions and wounded nine people, including a child. Negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are to meet Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. This desk does not add a second wounded count to the nine. It does not print a death toll that is not in this AP account.
