KYIV — Reuters reported at 1:23 a.m. UTC on Saturday that Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram: “Explosions in the Kyiv suburbs. The enemy is hitting infrastructure with ballistic missiles.” He said debris struck a five-storey apartment building in a western district, and that the facade of another residential building was damaged. The city’s military administration, also on Telegram, said two people were injured and that a building housing a kindergarten was damaged. That is one count.
The Associated Press, updated Saturday morning, said missile attacks across Ukraine wounded at least nine people. President Zelenskyy said Russia fired 36 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight, and 172 drones over Kyiv and 12 other regions, wounding nine people, including a child. AP said the Northern Bridge was closed. Klitschko said repair work was already underway and that water pressure had been stabilized. Earlier Saturday he had called the energy situation “extremely difficult.” This desk does not add the city’s two to the nine. They are two counts, from two places.

Negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are to meet Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. AP said it would be the fourth round brokered by the Trump administration. The last was in Geneva in February. Russia’s Ministry of Defense, AP reported, said it targeted the Northern Bridge because the bridge moved weapons, and that it hit a plant making Flamingo missiles, a power station, an electrical substation, and a plant making ammunition in the wider region. Those are the ministry’s claims. They are not a confirmed toll. Friday’s Hormuz note stays filed.
