The NFL opened Wednesday night at Lumen Field with a Super Bowl rematch and a hip. Sam Darnold was sacked on Seattle’s first drive, walked to the tent, then the tunnel, and was ruled questionable. Drew Lock took the second series. New England led 7–0 early in the second quarter on a two-yard throw from Drake Maye to rookie tight end Eli Raridon, the first touchdown of 2026. The Sports desk files a live game, not a final.
NBC has the picture. Seattle was a 3-point favorite. The White House, Maggie Haberman reported, had not clocked that the opener was the same night as Dallas. Trumpapalooza is filling a hall. Lumen Field is filling a Wednesday. The country that spent the day at $4.22 a gallon is spending the night at a football game. That is the civic calendar.
Rookie Eli Raridon scores the first TD of the season.
