The 2026 NFL season opens tonight at Lumen Field: New England at Seattle, 8:20 p.m. Eastern, on NBC. It is a Super Bowl rematch. The Seahawks beat these Patriots in February and closed last year on a ten-game streak. Mike Macdonald has the home sideline. Mike Vrabel has the visitors. The Sports desk files a football game on a morning when oil is $100 and a convention fills Dallas.
Seattle is a 3-point favorite. The over/under is 44½. Drake Maye completed 72 percent a year ago, the league’s best mark; Rhamondre Stevenson takes the volume with TreVeyon Henderson out. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the Seahawk the Patriots have to cover. Champions League nights are already underway in Europe. Thursday the league goes to Melbourne. The country that spent the night at $4.22 a gallon will spend this one at a football game. That is the civic calendar.
